ORDER OF EVENTS:

10:00 – 10:30     Registration and walk to staging area
10:30 – 10:45     Welcome
10:45 – 11:30     Icebreakers and Low Elements
11:30 – 12:30     Spider Webb - Fish Frank / Ridley Briggs                         
12:30 – 01:00     Lunch
01:00 – 02:30     Zip Line and Low Elements
02:30 – 03:30     Questions and Answers
03:30 – 04:00     Return to parking lot and homes
 

While the Seminar is primarily for RYLA Club Coordinators, it should be noted that High School Counselors and Rotary Club
Presidents are also urged to attend.  In addition, those who think they may be interested in becoming a Facilitator will find the
Seminar most enlightening.  Fifteen dollars ($15.00) will cover the cost of the lunch and seminar.  Any questions will be

09/26/2009

8/01/09           PRESIDENTS REPORT NAME, ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER, AND
                        EMAIL ADDRESS OF CLUB RYLA COORDINATOR 

9/11/09          COORDINATORS COMMIT TO ATTEND 09/26/09 COORDINATORS SEMINAR

9/26/09          COORDINATORS SEMINAR – Camp George Pirtle, 10:00 a. m. – 4:00 p. m.

10/02/09-
10/25/09        COORDINATORS educate high school counselors on RYLA and the Application
                        Process.  This is a good time to show the video to the Counselor and explain the
                        type of student that RYLA is targeting.  Don’t leave Counselor until he/she is totally
                        sold on the program and has applications in hand.  Ask for a minimum of 4 applicants for
                        each camper to be chosen in the interview process.  Ask Counselor to choose applicants
                        and to give to each an application. Be certain Counselor knows time and
                        place of interviews, as well as the camp dates (Session 1 or Session 2).  Choose and notify
                        Club’s Interview Committee (minimum of 3) of interview time and place.  Choose a date
                        for campers to present their program to the Club immediately following their return from
                        camp. Give date to Counselor along with an invitation to attend the meeting as a guest.

11/13/09         Deadline for receiving fees for number of camper slots Club is requesting.

11/13/09         Deadline for students to turn in application to HS Counselors or RYLA Coordinators.

11/20/09         Interview RYLA applicants and choose primary campers and alternates.

11/27/09         Notify all applicants of their status and give campers preliminary information, including
                        date of information meeting with campers and parents (non-primary and non-alternate
                        students will be notified that they are secondary alternates).

12/11/09         Deadline for receipt of applications of primary and alternate campers. (One male and
                        one female PRIMARY and same for alternates).

12/01/09 -      Hold information meeting for campers and parents (include counselors).  (Serve pizza,
12/18/09        dessert, etc.)  Show RYLA video.  Cover basic questions about what to bring and not to
                        bring, transportation to and from camp, health and safety issues, contact information, etc.

1/15/10           Call campers to remind them of dates and to answer last minute questions, especially
                        about transportation issues (Campers cannot drive to camp).  Coordinators in charge.

1/ 22-24 /10   Staff Training at Camp Pirtle

2/ 05-07 /10   Session I and Session II – Coordinators responsible for delivering campers to Pirtle at
      &                3:00 p. m. on Friday and picking them up on Sunday at 5:30 p. m. (NO EXCEPTIONS).
2/ 19-21 /10   Also, on Friday, make certain Medical Release Forms are signed by parent or guardian.
                        Be available for contact over the weekend in case of emergency.  If not, let the parents know
                        who is responsible.  If a different person is picking campers up, let both campers and 
                        parents know.

No Later Than    The 1st week of March, have RYLArians as Club Program!  Have campers present the program
                        at Rotary.  Remind them in advance to come well-organized, full of enthusiasm, and wearing
                        RYLA T-shirts and bandanas.  Be sure to invite parents and counselors to the program!

                        Note:  Many Coordinators continue a RYLA relationship with campers by having
                                    pizza parties, sleepovers, parties, etc.; the kids love keeping in touch.
